Hack your Fears: Public Speaking Tips for Nervous Talkers

77% of the general population have either fear or shyness of speaking in public, making it a very common phobia. Despite the fears, public speaking is something that many of us have to do either professionally or through participating in activities that we love on a regular basis. But knowledge is power, and by better understanding some of the methods that public speakers use to overcome this fear, you too can feel more comfortable in public speaking roles. In this workshop, we will address several topics that can help participants become better prepared to address groups large and small. Even if you do not have a hobby or a career that requires public speaking, the tips and training can help anyone - even just answering the phone - feel more comfortable in communicating with others. Some topics that we will touch on during this workshop: What is Public Speaking? True or False? Myths and Legends Preparation is Key - Content, Research, Organization, and Practice Stand and Deliver - What you Say...AND How you Say It Extra, Extra! A Little About A Lot of talking Q&A and Final Thoughts The outcomes of feeling more comfortable with oral communication are many; increased confidence, career advancement, more opportunities for collaboration, and an enhanced image are just a few ways that improved public speaking skills can help you meet your personal and professional goals.
