More Than An Ally: A Virtual Workshop

The content will be the same both days.) “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” ~Desmond Tutu You've acknowledged your responsibility to support the Black community in the ongoing fight for racial justice, but you're not sure where to start? START HERE! This interactive workshop will introduce you to the difference between being an actor, an ally and an accomplice, while offering valuable tips on how to engage with existing Black activism in a way that is respectful and meaningful. We'll discuss tips for effectively supporting the Black community and common allyship pitfalls to avoid. Expect to be challenged. Expect to be changed. About the facilitator: Angela Angel has spent the last 20 years as an attorney, advocate & organizer for those forgotten and disenfranchised. As a Maryland State Delegate, she took on her own party to stand up for victims of domestic violence and spoke out against sexual harassment happening in the Statehouse. She is a single mom of five that is dedicated to using her voice & platform to lift up & be part of the solution for Black socioeconomic & political issues. She most recently served as the National Black Engagement Director for the Pete Buttigieg presidential campaign. She is the founder of Angel Consulting & Advocacy.
