AmeriCorps VISTA Week!

March 11-17 was #AmeriCorpsWeek 2018! MBF is a proud supporter and host site for AmeriCorps VISTA.

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program designed to alleviate poverty. The program was created in 1965 by President John F. Kennedy and was incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs in 1993. Each VISTA serves a specific organization in need of his or her set of skills. Since 1965, over 220,000 VISTA members have served in all 50 states and U.S. Territories.

Our VISTA, Moustafa “Moose” Nassar is serving as the Communications VISTA for one year with Middle Border Forward through a partnership with the Center for Community Engagement and Career Competitiveness (CCECC). A native of Long Island, NY and an Averett alum, Moose was interested in coming back to Danville to be part of the region’s revitalization efforts. Check out his VISTA video HERE!
