Community 500 Applications Open!

April 26, 2018

What could you do for your community with $500?

It’s back!

We are inviting citizens of Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Caswell County to submit their ideas for small-scale impact projects in the third round of Community 500 (C500) sponsorship applications.

Launched in January 2017, C500 has sponsored 14 different projects $500 to date! Ideas like student-led community gardens, family portraits for residents of Danville’s public housing, an ultimate frisbee league, and so much more have been realized by people just like you!

The C500 is a challenge from us to you. It is a challenge for citizens of the Middle Border region to consider how small, creative actions can make a significant change where we live and work. You don’t need thousands of dollars to create change; just an idea, passion to fuel it, and a little help from us.

Since we don't want to limit anyone’s drive on creating good, we’re doing things a little differently this year. Community 500 applications will now be accepted on a rolling basis. Anyone can apply at any time! Since Community 500 is not a grant-making program, it is open to anyone with a project idea; affiliation with an organization or group is not required.

Also, MBF will never shut down your idea. If your plan is already being done, we will connect you with those resources. If your project needs work, we’ll tell you. Periodically, we host C500 project planning workshops to help you get a better understanding of how to approach and manage a Community 500 application and sponsorship. Join our NEWSLETTER to find out when the next workshop will be!

Share your C500 idea!
