Community 500 Announcement
April 6, 2018
Middle Border Forward invites citizens of Danville, Pittsylvania County and Caswell County to submit their ideas for small-scale impact projects in the second round of Community 500 sponsorship applications.
Launched in January 2017, the Community 500 initiative has sponsored six projects to date, including a student field trip to Conservator’s Center of Caswell County, family portraits for residents of Danville’s public housing and improvements to the Ringgold Rail Trail.
“In the first round, we reviewed over 60 applications,” says Middle Border Forward’s Executive Director, Jennifer Gregory, “I hope to see even more bright and innovative ideas in this second round.”
The Community 500 initiative is not a grant. No funds will be awarded. Instead, Middle Border Forward will work with project designers to implement their ideas and provide financial support by purchasing materials, etc.
Since the Community 500 is not a grant making program, it is open to everyone with a project idea. Applicants are not required to be affiliated with any organization or group.
Applications are available online here and will be accepted through August 18, 2017. Selected applicants are expected to attend a project facilitation training workshop on September 5 from 5:30-7:30pm.
